The founder of Family Li Imperial Cuisine is Mr. Li Shanlin. His grandfather, Lin Shunqing, was the Lord Secretary to the household of the Qing dynasty Tong Zhi Emperor and Guang Xu Emperor. He had the significant responsibility of protecting the Forbidden City, mainly overseeing security issues and the Imperial kitchen. After he resigned, he wrote down the Imperial menus (materials and cooking processes) according to his memory. These menus were passed down from generation to generation, and hence emerged Family Li Imperial Cuisine. In 1985 Li Shanlin opened Family Li restaurant in his own house which finally allowed people to appreciate the mysterious imperial cuisine. Using the traditional cooking methods and fresh natural ingredients, Family Li Imperial Cuisine is a work of art and a living history. It is where guests enjoy the exquisite imperial gourmet and appreciate Chinese culture at the same time.
